Extending Coverage
If you are not enrolled in classes for a specific semester but want to keep your student health insurance, you may be eligible to purchase an Extension. Here's what you need to know:
When can I request an Extension?
- Extensions are available during the Enrollment/Waiver Period each academic term.
- They are most commonly used in the Summer.
- For the current term, please complete the form.
Who can request an Extension?
You can request an Extension if:
- You were covered by the student health insurance last semester, and
- You are registered as on-campus degree seeking student for the returning semester.
**** Do NOT fill out the Extension form if you are enrolling in classes this term. ****
Enrolling in an on-campus degree seeking course, will automatically assess the student insurance fee to your student account (if you did not opt out previously).
Please note, you cannot extend off of an extension.
Request your extension via the Combined Student Fee Portal (opens the day the Enrollment/Waiver Period opens).
Waiver Generating Appointments:
- If you have a waiver generating appointment but are not enrolled in classes this term, you must complete the Extension Form to keep your coverage.
- Fee waivers (if applicable) will be applied to your student account within 10 business days.
For information regarding Extensions & Waiver-Generating Appointments, please check the Graduate College's website.
Fees:
- The cost is the same as the pervious semester.
- Once the Extension is processed, the fee will be placed on your student account.
